COVID-19 lockdown didn’t stop the Acorn Leisure Team getting on with the job at Maes Mynan Park, which saw the completion of 23 new lodge plots.
In today’s staycation market, having your own space without shared facilities is important for many. New lodge plots and static caravan plots, that are ready to go, aren’t always easy to find.
Maes Mynan Park, as a new holiday park development, offering stunning views and plenty of space, will tick the box for many who are looking for a new holiday home location that will allow them to ‘get away from it all’ anytime they like, whatever the weather and circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first phase of Maes Mynan Park, in Afonwen near Caerwys, was launched by Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Lord Dafydd-Elis Thomas last September, but, as with many businesses, the Coronavirus outbreak prevented prospective holiday homeowners from visiting this picturesque site. However, with the easing of lockdown restrictions, people are looking in earnest for a country retreat that helps them escape their everyday surroundings that now often includes ‘working from home’.
Acorn Leisure directors Peter and Louise Barlow have worked hard behind the scenes on Maes Mynan Park during lockdown, completing 23 exclusive luxury lodge plots, all of which are now ready for holiday homeowners to choose before placing an order for a bespoke luxury lodge. The exciting news is that lodge plot one was ordered just before lockdown and is due to arrive mid-september.
Despite lockdown and two new young recruits, over 2,000 plants and trees have also been planted. The whole Acorn Leisure team have spent countless hours maintaining and improving the park, supported by local businesses and trades, who were able to support the development despite the supply chain difficulties they all encountered along the way.
“The pandemic hasn’t stopped us from getting the site ready and prepared for visitors and the next phase of development. The lodge park is nearing completion, with tarmac due for the internal roads due by the beginning of October and the winter months. As we prefer to work with customers on a bespoke basis, we can offer a choice of lodge plots, and the option to work off-plan with a number of reputable UK lodge manufacturers. This allows our holiday homeowners to make the most of the view they choose and the lodge they design. We have also laid the first 14 static caravan bases as part of phase 2 in a different area of the Park, with another 21 planned by the end of the year. In fact 4 of those bases have already gone and others have been reserved. We are delighted to share this special place with others who appreciate its abundant natural beauty.” Louise said.
“Because of the size of the park we could social-distance during lockdown and thanks to our positive team, we managed to keep things moving with the development, even though the public were not able to visit. It’s been challenging, but it’s been that way for all businesses.
“ We will also continue to work in collaboration with other local businesses, especially in the food and hospitality sector and promote neighbouring attractions where we can, to highlight what this beautiful corner of Flintshire in North Wales has to offer. Maes Mynan Park is a hidden gem off the beaten track and there are some amazing places to discover and explore on the doorstop. A holiday home on Maes Mynan Park is a great base to explore all of North Wales and Snowdonia is only 45 minutes away. ”
“We look forward to welcoming people to Maes Mynan Park and sharing in this incredible part of North Wales, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), a place very close to our hearts.” Peter Barlow
